Lauren: Chile Ayuda a Chile.

Last night there was an outpour of support from Chileans to help out the affected regions in the South. A telethon raised $60 million (in USD), twice the expected amount yesterday and people here are so proud. It reminds me a lot of the US the first month after Sept. 11, flags everywhere, signs and posters saying "strength Chile!!" It's really remarkable.

Among our friends here you would hear extraordinary stories about people just spending all their paycheck or getting into their savings account to help their fellow Chileans in a "Chile Ayuda a Chile" telethon.

People seem like their done being sad. It's time to rebuild and help their fellow Chilean. There was an expression that even though it's a skinny country, the top will help out the bottom in its time of need. Something like that.

It's been extraordinary to watch, and to hear our friends donating all their savings or half their paycheck is really inspirational.

  2. Ah! Unfortunately no. This is the official image they were using for their website. It's a great shot though.
